JUNIOR COMPANY
STARTING THIS FALL!
We’re looking for 6-10 talented dancers to join our Junior Company this fall. These dancers will be selected based on their technical ability, not their age. There will be NO COMPETING; only dancing for the sake of dance! This company’s purpose will be to represent the up and coming dancer at South Side Dance Force, help promote the studio, and showcase a talented group of leaders. It’s important for the dancers to have someone to look up to, why not their fellow classmate? This group will be hard working and dedicated to the studio. They’ll host fundraisers, studio events, and have a part in creating their own Informances. Also, they will be involved in the theatrical side of the studio, eventually creating their own show with student choreography!
Auditions* will be held at SSDF Saturday September 11th, 2:00 - 4:00PM, with an information meeting Friday September 10th at 6PM in the lobby.
At auditions the dancers will be asked to execute the following:
Technique
Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, and Hip Hop Dance Combinations
Flexibility
Strength
Stage Presence
If chosen for the company, the dancers will be required to take one Ballet, one Jazz, and two Rehearsal classes (all scheduled accordingly). The dancers will be at the studio about 6.5 hours a week, including mandatory saturday rehersals. The cost for joining the company is $250/month, which includes all scheduled classes, rehersal times, and unlimated classes; encouraging the dancers to take other classes. There will be fundraisers throughout the year to help cut the costs of costumes. In addition to the dancers joining, we will need parent volunteers to help with the fundraising.
Please know this is a commitment that requires dedication. We’re excited to showcase the up and coming talent at South Side Dance Force. Everyone starts somewhere; this is a great opportunity for any student that would love to pursue the life of a dancer, teacher, or creator!
If your interested in trying out this fall, we HIGHLY encourage you to take the 6:00 - 7:30PM Ballet classes and the 7:30 - 9:00PM Int/Adv Jazz classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer!
* To audition dancers must have the technique equivalent to Level Jazz 3/4 and up.
